•Overseeing the Dental Society email account and summarise the emails to the relevant student, staff or member of the committee.
•Organising room bookings for all Dental Society meetings, lecture room bookings for Dental Society events.
•Organising meeting dates, committee deadlines & updating the committee on issues e.g by writing up and publishing the minutes at each Dental Society meeting.
2 EVENT OFFICERS
•Organising, promoting & volunteering at Dental Society events, both academic & social, including encouraging attendance & selling tickets when necessary.
•Encourage social integration by organising socials for individual year groups, all year groups & between universities.
Gain sponsorship opportunities & funding for both academic & social events.
BDSA/EDSA REP
(2 year role: first year as junior, second as senior)
•Participating and presenting the views of the Dental Society to EDSA, as well as relaying information back to the Dental Society.
•Organising and running BDSA Charity Week at KCL, assisting in the organisation of BDSA Conference and BDSA Sports Day with event organisers and other BDSA representatives.
•Attending numerous BDA meetings through the academic year and relaying information to the Dental Society and peers.

(2 year role: first year as junior, second as senior)
•Liaising with committee and respective year reps to organise a ball, catering for the requirements of the whole year group (BDS 3 or 5 depending on the ball).
•Researching & finding venues, entertainment packages, catering & drinks deals for the ball.
•Increase awareness and advertise the ball amongst students, nurses and staff.
WEB & DESIGN OFFICER
(must have proficient IT and photography skills)
•Maintaining & reviewing the KCL Dental Society Website.
•Taking photographs at KCL Dental Society events & making promotional posters for events.
•Acting as an administrator for the Dental Society App & maintaining a good social media presence.
SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER
•Looking after the Instagram and the Dental Society App
•Keeping our following up to date with our activities by sharing photos, posts and content.
•Encouraging steady growth of the KCL Dental Society following and reputation
GPEP REP
(must be a GPEP)
•Organising GPEP socials and integrate GPEPs into the general year socials, creating GPEP welcome packs.
•Giving feedback for GPEP specific issues to rest of the committee & try and resolve any issues within their remit.
•Facilitating further GPEP revision classes – as GPEPs join the programme later further revision sessions may be required so the GPEP representative will need to organise these.

•Organising international student socials and aiding integration of international students into the general year socials.
•Facilitating partnerships with other Dental Societies worldwide & hosting any prospective international students or guests from overseas Dental Institutes.

•Volunteering at Dental Society events, both academic & social, including encouraging attendance & selling tickets when necessary.
STUDENT TREASURER
•Managing the account finances & overseeing budgeting for all events, academic & social, alongside the staff treasurer.
•Overseeing all sponsorship packages, seeking opportunities to increase sponsorship & representing the Dental Society when dealing with all sponsors.
•Organising the trade fayres & increasing opportunities to students.
WIDENING PARTICIPATION OFFICER
(must have previously served on committee, SSLC or other education-based society committee)
This is a revised position from the which emphasises the role of Widening Participation
•Responsible for liaising with the Social Mobility and Student Success (SMSS) Department at King’s
•Organising school visits to Sixth Form students for Dental Students to talk to prospective students
•Facilitating mentoring schemes between years & reaching out to schools as part of Widening Participation.

ELECTION PROCESS
When you decide to run for a position on the DentSoc Committee, you are running to be a representative for your fellow students. Your year group(s) vote, and if you get enough votes, you’re on the committee the following year! The more votes you get the more likely you are to obtain a committee position.

An email will be sent out to all candidates following the end of nominations on how to submit campaign material.
Material consists of – An email (at any point in the campaign period) to their entire year group. An A4 Poster to be put up on the Dental Society website & Floor 24. You are allowed freedom to appropriately campaign on Whatsapp, Instagram in person, & other forms of social media. Student President-Elect Candidates 1. An email to the entire dental school mailing list. 2. A video to be posted on the Dental Society YouTube Page. More information will be sent to those candidates for the president-elect position. |
Excluding the Student President-Elect, who is voted for by BDS years 1-4, all other positions will be elected by the candidates respective year group.
A link will be sent to your year group with specific details to carry out voting, voting will take place through the Dental Society App. Please use the SPECIFIC link for your particular year group ONLY, as your votes casted in other year group links will not be counted and will only cause more disruption. |
