Presidential address – Charles Pidgeon
After an amazing year of reform within the Dental Society, it is only fair to continue with the success of the previous committee.
Last year saw the society provide events that catered for the needs of the entire school and this year the plan is to build upon these successes to enable the society to move from strength to strength.
One of the main goals is to provide a platform upon which students from years 1 - 5 can freely integrate imparting useful knowledge but also to create links and friendships that can be lifelong.
Obtaining a BDS is the merely the first rung on the ladder of a young dentist’s career. An opportunity to network and share ideas with other like minded individuals is an invaluable asset that mustn’t be overlooked or underestimated.
The Dental Society is a social interacting community that brings together both staff and students alike. It is the committee’s role to then provide opportunities for the rest of the school, allowing everyone to benefit. Enabling social interaction, allowing for the members to engage in extra-curricular activities and organising social events are our primary objectives.
We have a large committee who tirelessly put in hours and hours of hard and dedicated work to enable the smooth running of the society. It is these people who are responsible for everything that we do and stand for, and I cannot thank them enough for all their efforts!
